Zimbabwe's largest National Park, Hwange National Park lies just two hours away from one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World - Victoria Falls.
Its sheer size means that its scenery, vegetation and game varies hugely, ranging from Kalahari sands in the south, to beautiful forests, granite hills and valleys of mopane woodlands in the north.
Elephants are the stars of the show and can be seen by hundreds during the dry season. The Park is also home to over 100 mammal species and more than 470 bird species.
Easily accessible from Victoria Falls, by air, road transfer or self drive.
Best time to visit HWANGE
Dry Season (June to October) is the prime time for a safari in Hwange National Park. Skies are blue, no rain and waterholes become gathering places for an abundance of animals.
Shoulder season (April, May & November), most roads are still accessible, infrequent afternoon showers and animals are still plenty. Migratory birds are present, the scenery is beautiful and new born mammals are plentiful.
Green Season (January to March & December) is a birders and photographers paradise. Lush green landscapes, clear skies and new born animals are born. Another highlight is less visitors meaning a more exclusive safari experience. Roads can however become technical and the bush can be thick.
