Big Male Lion walking in an open safari in Hwange National Park

DAY TRIP TO

HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

FULL DAY SAFARI

Staying in Victoria Falls but want to discover Zimbabwe's wildlife? Join us on a Full Day Safari to Hwange National Park.

Spanning an area of roughly 14 650km², Hwange is the largest and oldest game reserve in Zimbabwe. Its sheer size means that its scenery, vegetation and game varies hugely, ranging from Kalahari sands in the south, to beautiful forests, granite hills and valleys of mopane woodlands in the north.

Elephants and buffaloes are the stars of the show and can be seen by their hundreds during the dry season. The Park is also home to over 100 mammal species and more than 470 bird species.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will be collected at your lodge at around 06h00, before heading to Hwange National Park (approx. 190km). You are likely to arrive at the main entrance gate at 08h30, where you will hop on an open 4×4 game drive vehicle where your real safari begins.

After a morning drive into the pure wilderness, you will stop for lunch at a picnic site (inside the park), before heading out for a second safari on route to the parks gate.

Hwange National Park is known to house one of the largest surviving population of African painted wild dogs in Africa. En-route we may stop at the African Painted Wild Dog Rehabilitation Centre, where you may learn about the highly endangered animals and see the wild dogs that will be released in due course.

You will then drive back to Victoria Falls and arrive by your lodge at 19h00.
