REMOTE AND DIFFERENT FOREST LODGE

Nestled in the cool woodlands on the southern edge of the famous Ngamo Plains, just a ten minute drive to the Parks gate, Camelthorn offers comfort in a relatively different style. Different to the traditional bush camp, the lodge is built solidly. The 'look-up hide' is just a kilometer away from camp offering some of the best up-close game viewing and photography experiences. Seeing elephants from toe level silhouetted against the sky is something you will remember. The lodge also offers the chance to engage in their “pump-run”. A full day is spent travelling by vehicle from waterhole to waterhole, spotting wildlife along the way with a visit to a local school and village.

THE CAMP

The main lodge is unique in its style and design with an ancient Camelthorn tree as its centre piece, where meals are often served. The lodge features eight luxuriously furnished forest villas, each spaced out and secluded by thick vegetation, with a patio and a spiral staircase leading to an upper-deck game viewing area. Despite its remoteness, the lodge is situated next to the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls railway line, which explains the subtle railway theme to the lodge.
